Overview


 

The Voerstreek has a wonderful undulating landscape, an abundance of scenic beauty, quiet villages, a few castles and typical square farms in wide valleys with pastures and woodlands. It’s the ideal base if you want explore the area. Nearby are the cultural cities of Liège, Maastricht and Aachen and the nature reserves of the Ardennes, the Hoge Venen (peat moor) and in the Netherlands the area called “Mergelland”.

You can hardly think of a better place than youth hostel “De Veurs” to start scouting the typical landscape of the “Voerstreek” with its hills, hollow roads and many woods. This hostel is housed in a modern and comfortable building. From the large terrace you can enjoy the marvellous scenery. The ideal place for nature classes, families and groups of ramblers.

(1) As a non-member you can also acquire your membership through the special introductory offer. You will be allowed a stay at a hostel without a membership card. Instead you’ll receive a guest membership card and pay a supplement per overnight stay. In exchange you’ll get a “Welcome Stamp” on your guest card. Once you have 6 stamps on your card you’ll have acquired a valid international membership and you’ll enjoy the normal tariffs. 
Mind you, it’ll be much cheaper if you become a HI-member, in which case you’ll get a discount voucher as well. Keep in mind that in some countries the supplement for a “Welcome Stamp” is more expensive than in Flanders.

  • Children discounts for families.

    • Children under 3 enjoy a free stay.

    • Children under 12 get a discount of ±20% for bed and breakfast and meals when accompanied by at least one adult.

  • Group tariffs are the same as the individual adult tariff.

    • groups must be in possession of a group membership card. 

    • Every 16th person of a group stays free (possession of a group membership card and half pension required).

Travel Guide

Car:

- Coming from Brussels on the E40 (A3) direction Liège-Maastricht-Aachen, at the cloverleaf of Cheratte switch to the E25 (A3) in the direction of Maastricht. Just as you reach the Dutch border, take exit 1 and head for Moelingen. Continue to ‘s Gravenvoeren and finally St.-Martens-Voeren.
- Coming from Antwerp on the E313, take exit 33 at Boirs. Head for Visé (Wezet) on the N618 and N671. Cross the bridge in Visé and turn left at the traffic lights in the direction of Maastricht and Moelingen (Mouland) on the N653. In Moelingen, go right to ‘s Gravenvoeren and finally St.-Martens-Voeren.
- The hostel is on the slope (Comberg) near the community centre “Cultureel Centrum Veltmanshuis” where you can park your car. It’s a good idea to drop your luggage at the hostel first.

- Navigation advice: in most GPS devices, the street "Komberg" is known with as "Comberg"
